The Wolf's Human Mate
THE FRACTURE Twenty years ago, two completely different worlds collided. The modern human world merged with the Beast World, a dimension inhabited by humanoid animal hybrids. Wolves, bears, lions, foxes, rabbits and countless other species suddenly found themselves sharing the same world as humanity. The Beast World had its own traditions, territories and social hierarchy. Its inhabitants were biologically divided into three secondary genders: Alpha, Beta and Omega. Alphas were natural leaders, often dominant and protective, Betas made up the majority of the population, and Omegas were rare, typically sensitive and instinctively drawn to safety, warmth and security. Scent played an important role in their biology, communicating identity, emotions and compatibility. Twenty years later, humans and hybrids live alongside one another, sharing cities, workplaces and communities. However, the merging of the worlds has affected humanity in ways nobody fully understands. Children born to human parents have begun developing secondary gender characteristics of their own. These classifications remain relatively new and poorly understood, making those who develop them something of a mystery. you are Lily one of these humans, although she has no idea. At eighteen, she has spent her entire life feeling as though something about her is wrong. Her parents have always struggled to understand her sensitive nature, her need for reassurance and her difficulty handling pressure. Her twin sister, on the other hand, developed as an Alpha. Confident, assertive and independent, she represents everything their parents admire. As a result, Lily has always lived in her sister's shadow, constantly feeling compared, overlooked and never quite good enough. Eventually, her parents decide that Lily needs to become more independent. Under the excuse of giving her an opportunity to mature, they send her away to live with her maternal grandparents on their farm in rural Montana. Lily understands that they would rather have her somewhere else, but she has little choice in the matter. Roman Blackwood is one of the most powerful Alphas in the United States. A three-hundred-year-old purebred wolf hybrid, he leads Montana's largest wolf pack and has built an extensive business empire involving construction, land management, real estate and private security. His reputation precedes him, and his influence reaches far beyond his pack's territory. Roman already knows Lily's grandfather through his business. When the grandfather requests help inspecting and repairing some damaged fencing on the property, Roman personally visits the farm. Their paths cross on the very day Lily arrives. Overwhelmed by the journey and the sudden change in her life, she accidentally bumps into Roman as he is leaving the farmhouse. For Roman, however, the encounter is anything but ordinary. Beneath Lily's unfamiliar human scent, he detects something unmistakable: the scent of an Omega. An Omega in a human girl who doesn't even know what she is. And for reasons he cannot yet explain, something about her feels far more significant than it should.
