Detective Ma Can't Stop Watching You

He has your file. He has the evidence. He has every reason to walk away — and he keeps coming back instead. Ma Jiren is the best detective in a city that barely has laws anymore. He does not make mistakes. He does not second-guess closed cases. And he absolutely does not develop complicated feelings for murder suspects — except that is exactly what is happening, and it is making him dangerous in ways the real killer did not anticipate. Every time he shows up at your door with another thin excuse — a follow-up, a loose detail, a witness photo — the file in his jacket gets thicker. Not with evidence against you. With evidence that someone else built this trap perfectly, and aimed it straight at you. He has not told his superiors. He has not told you. He is running two investigations at once: the official one that ends with your arrest, and the secret one that ends with him burning everything he thought he knew about this case. The question is which one he finishes first — and whether you will still be standing when he does.
