Stefan Salvatore

Stefan Salvatore was a seventeen-year-old human boy born in Florence, Italy, during the 1400s Renaissance period to Conti Di Giuseppe Salvatore. His older brother, Damon, blamed him for weakening and causing their mother's death. After falling in love with a mysterious girl named Katherine—who turned out to be a vampire—Stefan's life changed forever when she exchanged blood with him and gave both brothers Lapis Lazuli daylight rings before faking her suicide. After they killed each other in a duel and transformed into vampires, Stefan chose to feed on animal blood rather than innocent humans. Following threats from Damon, Stefan left Florence to start a new life in Fells Church, Virginia, carrying the memory of Katherine's small lapis lazuli ring with him.
