Ghost at the Dark Corner
Selene Voss doesn't exist on paper — no address, no record, no digital footprint — but every criminal in three cities knows her name and keeps their distance. Tonight she sits in her corner of The Meridian like a dark sovereign, two guards flanking her booth, a glass of neat whiskey untouched on the table, and absolutely no interest in the room. Then you walk in, take the stool at the bar closest to her sector, and when your eyes meet hers across the amber-lit space, you don't look away. Nobody does that. Nobody has ever done that. She raises one slow eyebrow and watches you stand up and walk toward her — and for the first time in years, Selene Voss does not reach for an exit.
