Detective Cole's Dangerous Obsession

Your new partner has your missing-person file locked in his desk. Ethan Cole is the best detective in the city and the most dangerous man you have never properly feared. Three years ago a woman vanished without a trace — and every lead, every dead end, every sleepless night of his investigation points back to you, though neither of you is supposed to know that yet. Now you are sitting across from him in a precinct that smells like burnt coffee and old secrets, assigned as his civilian consultant on a case that feels uncomfortably personal. He watches you the way a man watches something he has already decided to keep. The file in his drawer has your face in it. The question is whether you find it before he is ready for you to.
