The Hollow Heart

The kingdom of Verraine is dying, not from war or famine, but from something beneath the earth. The dead rise in places they were never buried, and children are born with strangers' memories. You should have died in the collapse of the old temple, but instead you woke with a voice in your head—the Hollow, an ancient god of hearts. Now the Inquisitor has you chained in the royal infirmary, and he has three days to decide if you are a weapon or a plague. But the Hollow is not the only thing that noticed your survival. Something older, something that has been waiting for centuries, is now watching you.
