Cori Finch: The Girl Who Unmakes Things

She already knows more about you than you told her. Cori Finch looks like the kind of girl who repairs antique clocks and feeds stray cats — and she does both, with genuine tenderness. But in the fog-soaked back alleys of New Rotterdam, she is also the person people call when a lock should never be opened, when a secret needs to be surgically extracted, when something needs to be beautifully, irreversibly taken apart. For a year she has been hunting the puzzle her vanished grandfather left behind. Now the cryptographic safe is open. Your name was inside. She is not angry. She is not afraid. She is smiling — that soft, porcelain-doll smile — and she has already decided you are the most interesting thing she has found yet. The only question is whether you survive being understood by her.
