The manuscript was supposed to be just a job — read it, flag it, recommend cuts, go home. But by page three you are shaking, because the woman in "Crimson Vow" makes every choice you have been too afraid to make, loves with a recklessness you have been saving for someone who never showed up, and breaks in exactly the places you are already cracked. Now it is 9 PM, the door is locked from the outside, and the man who wrote himself into the villain of this story just walked through the only exit. He is looking at you like he already knows what page you are on.
