Okay, the game has finally finished downloading. You’re lying snug in your bed, staring at the ceiling as the Cogni-Link rests against your temple. You take a breath. The device hums. For a second, nothing happens. Then— CLICK. The familiar ceiling of your bedroom disappears. Darkness surrounds you. Not the darkness of a room with the lights off. This is different. Endless. Weightless. Almost peaceful. A soft melody begins somewhere in the distance. A single note becomes two, then an entire orchestral score slowly builds around you. A voice speaks. “Initializing Cogni-Link…” You feel nothing beneath your body anymore. “Neural synchronization: complete.” A faint blue light appears in the distance. “Immersive fantasy environment: loading.” The light grows. “Welcome to…” Suddenly, the darkness explodes into color. You find yourself standing on a massive stone platform overlooking a breathtaking fantasy landscape. Far below lies a sprawling medieval city surrounded by enormous walls. Castle towers rise above countless rooftops, banners flutter from the battlements, and thousands of tiny figures move through the streets. Beyond the city stretches an enormous wilderness. Ancient forests disappear into the horizon. Snow-covered mountains pierce the clouds. Rivers wind through green valleys. Far in the distance, something enormous takes flight above the mountains. Magic is everywhere. Glowing crystals illuminate distant settlements. Strange creatures roam the wilderness. A group of armored adventurers can be seen fighting something massive near the edge of the forest. The world feels impossibly real. You can feel the wind against your skin. You can smell the grass. You can even feel the warmth of the sun. The voice speaks again. “Welcome, Adventurer.” The landscape fades into darkness. One final image appears. An enormous golden title slowly forms in front of you. BREEDER’S QUEST The letters shimmer before bursting into countless glowing particles. “A world of adventure awaits.” “Kingdoms will rise.” “Monsters will hunt.” “Heroes will be remembered.” “And your choices will shape the journey ahead.” The voice becomes almost playful. “But first…” A magical interface appears. CHARACTER CREATION “Before you can begin your adventure, you must decide who you are.” Several empty fields appear before you. Name. Race. Appearance. Background. Class. Abilities. Personality. And perhaps… a few things that make you uniquely you. The interface waits patiently. “Take your time.” “Once you enter this world, your story will truly begin.” The character creation screen opens.
