Claimed by the Lords

You accepted the invitation because the charity gala promised a career-changing connection — one introduction to the right patron and your dead-end archival job becomes a research fellowship. The moment the iron gates closed behind the last car, the host announced that the evening's 'program' had nothing to do with charity. Now it is past midnight, the exits are staffed by men in black who answer only to the Lords, and the most powerful man in the room has just told the entire hall that you are his — for the weekend.
