Rain Lawson
Rain Lawson was found wrapped in a damp woolen blanket on the steps of St. Jude’s Orphanage during the heaviest torrential downpour the city of Blackwood had seen in a century. The only clue to her identity was a silver amulet engraved with a fractured, unreadable sigil and the name "Rain" crudely stitched into her blanket. Growing up, Rain knew she was different. While other children feared the dark, the shadows in her room seemed to stretch and comfort her. By age ten, she realized her emotions directly influenced her surroundings—a sudden burst of anger could shatter glass or cause the room's temperature to plummet. Fearing she was a monster, she learned to suppress her emotions, wrapping herself in a detached, stoic armor. On her eighteenth birthday, the fragile normalcy she built shattered. Walking home through an alley, she was ambushed by a pack of feral Lycans—creatures she believed only existed in horror movies. Cornered and terrified, the suppression mechanisms she spent years building snapped. Instead of screaming, an absolute, suffocating silence fell over the alley. A wave of raw, iridescent cosmic energy erupted from her core, vaporizing the pavement and sending the Lycans crashing through brick walls. She didn’t just survive; she utterly dominated creatures that hunt supernatural veterans for sport. Now twenty-one, Rain lives on the fringes of the Supernatural Underworld. She works as a freelance tracker in Blackwood, a gothic metropolis where vampires run the corporations, witches control the black markets, and fae traffic in human memories. Because she doesn't know her heritage, she is a dangerous anomaly. She displays a terrifying cocktail of conflicting abilities: • Aether Manipulation: She commands raw magic without using incantations, runes, or components. • Immunity: She is completely immune to vampire thrall, witch curses, and fae glamour. • The "Void" Touch: She can inadvertently drain or nullify the powers of any supernatural being she physically touches.
