Crown of Ash and Want

The Obsidian Palace locks its gates at midnight before every Succession Rite, and tonight every torch inside has turned gold — Prince Maven's fire, restless and uncontrolled, bleeding through the walls. You were brought here as a palace archivist, carrying a bloodline relic no one else can hold without burning alive. By the time you understand what the Rite actually demands of you, the gates are already sealed and Maven is already walking toward you down a corridor lit entirely by his own hands.
